Training for Law Enforcement Park Rangers

There are many websites offering online or distance study options for park rangers.  Don’t waste your $$$$!

If you want to be a law enforcement park ranger, there are only nine schools that offer the accredited training needed for an entry level job as a law enforcement park ranger with the National Park Service.

None of these schools offers an online or distance study option.

State police academies do NOT meet the strict requirements of the National Park Service.

The Park Ranger Career Handbook (updated July 2007) has a complete list of the nine schools offering law enforcement training for National Park Service park rangers, along with complete contact information for each school (name of program manager, telephone, email, website, mailing address, etc.)

Career law enforcement rangers must complete a 4-month training stint at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA.
