Age Requirements for Permanent Law Enforcement Rangers

In order to qualify for a law enforcement commission, you must be at least 21 years of age.

Career (permanent) law enforcement rangers are covered by an enhanced retirement plan commonly referred to as "6c retirement."  The 6c retirement plan allows law enforcement officers to retire with just 20 years of service.  Retirement by age 57 is mandatory.

Therefore, the maximum age for entry into a 6c covered law enforcement position is 37.  This is to ensure that the law enforcement ranger is able to complete 20 years of service prior to their 57th birthday.
